COAT & GROOM TIPS

Some owners desire the whiskers to be clipped, but you should first check with the owner. Use scissors.

The finished appearance can often be improved using a final coat conditioner (the type applied after the bath). Most of these conditioners, used sparingly, are lightly rubbed onto the coat, and then distributed with a light, gentle brushing and wiped with a pet chamois cloth.

Use a rubber brush during the bath to remove excess dead hair that has not shed off the dog. A hound brush used during drying should leave the coat smooth and flat.

Carefully clean the furrows of this breed. Some groomers use an eye stain remover applied with cotton. It is important that you dry the furrows completely after bathing, and a light talcum powder apply within the furrows is a good idea.
