Pictured above is Ziles, a very sweet Cock-A-Poo. Ziles has been to our shop before but as you can see, on very rare occasions. I'm not sure of his whole story but I know the people that bring him are his owners' parents. They can only get a hold of him once a year, if that. Prior to this grooming he hadn't been groomed for 2 years! Ziles condition was horrible, just one big mat! I probably could have saved his face and head, but it was requested that I make everything as short as possible. I had no problem with the request because I know it will keep poor Ziles feeling better, even if only for a week longer in between grooms. This sweet angel had fleas, but amazingly he wasn't extremely infested. Sadly I think this is because he was so incredibly matted that even those icky little critters couldn't reach his skin. His ears had solid matted balls of hair and earwax that were logged in his ear canals. His ear leathers were so matted they began to bleed at the tips when the mess was shaved off from the rush of circulation. Ziles was a joy to groom and nothing but a good boy the entire time. As you can see he looks as happy as I did when he was done. The hardest time I have is holding in the tears when I see and work dogs in this condition. It amazes me what angels they are during the whole process. It is wonderful to share in the feeling they get when they are freed of their furry chains.
