I was working in a shop in Long Island , NY and wrapping up my day when an elderly lady walked in holding this lovable but very matted dog. I was going to tell her to come back in the am for an appointment until she told me she had just adopted this dog from the local pound. As soon as I heard that I knew I had to stay and help her out. The dogs nails were grown into its foot pads and it's rear end was so matted that it could not go to the bathroom comfortably. I shaved around his anal area first and took this little dog for a walk before proceeding. That in itself earned me his trust and he couldn't have been a sweeter client for the rest of his grooming. I used thinning scissors to thin out smaller matts and unfortunately had to shave a lot of the bigger matts. Its new owner loved the results, and that's what adoption is all about...making life better for a pet in need.
