This is Oreo. He is a 2 year old Poodle/Shih Tzu cross that was in desperate need of a grooming. He was acquired as a puppy and left outside because he relieved himself in the house. You can imagine the smell of the poor little guy! His owner made an appointment for him and said he was a bit of a mess, but I did not expect to see a dog encased in his own furry turtle shell. One look and my heart was broken. Needless to say I cleared my schedule and settled in for a few hours work. Oreo's coat had to be completely stripped. It basically came off in 4 sheets. He was scared of the clippers, the bath tub, the scissors, dryer, and nail clippers. I held him close through the entire process and after a while he began to feel safe. He licked my hands and face every chance he got. What I found under all that mess was a beautiful young dog. When the owners returned to pick him up, one of the children exclaimed, "Oreo, you smell so good!! Mom can we take him in the house now?" I gave mom some information on house training and told her she should have him neutered. She agreed to follow the house training rules and bring him in for regular grooming.
