Champ

Champ was brought into the local dog shelter as a stray that appeared roaming the streets around town. He tugged at an old lady's heart and she opened up her home to him. There is no previous information on Champ and his new owner had not named him yet, so we decided to call him Champ. Champ seemed tolerant of his situation and with gentleness, he let me handle him. I believe this was his first groom. He required a 30 on his head, ears, legs, rear and belly, but I was able to get a 10 down his back and chest. His ears were matted to his head and he had a gash that was trying to heal amidst the pelt. As the pelt came off, Champ began to shake and he could hardly stop. His personality was changing, he was getting excited and his tail wagged for the first time in a long time since it was no longer being held tightly matted to his rear. After the pelt was removed, he received a wonderful soaking medicated bath. Free from the prison of the pelt, he felt like a true Champ! He shook our hands repeatedly with a heart full of gratitude. Now Champ has a new name, new home and a new life! Thank you for reading Champ's story.
