Boomer I met Boomer, an afghan hound, a little over 2 years ago when he came into my shop. His owner had informed me when making the appointment that Boomer was severely matted and aggressive towards people he didn't know, but he didn't want him to be sedated. As Boomer entered the shop (a muzzled, mangled mess), he lunged at anyone who approached him, so his owner took him into the grooming room and placed him into a kennel before leaving. I sat and talked to Boomer before placing him on my table. He was extremely scared and wouldn't stand on his own so I had someone hold him up while I groomed. His entire body was a "cast" of hair and debris. It took me 1/2 hour to free each leg from the mess. He was a real trooper through the entire experience, though he did manage to bite me through the muzzle once causing a very sore bruise on my arm. I reassured him that I wasn't mad at and that I knew he was scared, but everything would be ok. After Boomer was stripped down, given a much needed bath & pampering, he was sent home with his owner who assured me he would set up a schedule to get him groomed more often.......2 years later on May 8th, 2007, Boomer finally came back to see me. It made me sad to see him in the same condition as the 1st time I met him. The first picture is Boomer in 2005. The next three pictures are in 2007. |
