Well my love of animals started when I was very young. My dog "Muffy" was my best friend. We were there right by each others side no matter what. When it would thunder and lightening Muffy would hide under the table in the kitchen, along with me under there as well. Both of us shaking and scared we seemed to settle down as long as we were there for each other. Through out the years we accumulated many animals, cats, fish, and yes, even scary reptiles. I also remember in elementary school, I had a fascination with scissors. When we had art classes I found myself being really creative with scissors and paper. Even till this day at 25 years old, if there are scissors and paper in front of me I will cut away and make different designs out of paper. My comfort of being around animals and that funny fascination with scissors has brought me to where I am today. Now I am a student learning to be a professional pet groomer. After graduating from high school, I went to a community college with no idea what I wanted to be. There are so many things out there to choose from, you can say I got overwhelmed. So somehow I landed into the administrative/office field. Yeah, it was OK, but not truly fulfilling to me. I knew there was something else. I kept searching inside myself for answers until one day something sparkled in my mind. I really thought about what I would enjoy doing. Yes, pet grooming. I can be around precious animals that I love and also express my creativity and style. And I knew it was something I would always get better at, a true challenge and fulfillment. I have to tell you, I went from bored and unhappy with my career to excited and motivated. And when you are happy with what you do, you are successful. Now when people ask me what I am in school for, I say with the deepest pride and confidence, "I'm in school for pet grooming." Wow, it really feels good. I only have about a month left of school and then I will be out there into the amazing field of pet grooming. I am on my toes and can't wait! My goal is to work for a grooming shop for 5 years and then maybe open up my own shop. The love that pets give can't be described in any words just the love we feel in our hearts. Good luck to all and may the love of pets be with you. Erin
